DyonMed Awarded at the Best in Pharmacy Awards 2023 in the “Best Prevention Product” Category!

On Tuesday, 12 September 2023, the Best in Pharmacy Awards 2023 ceremony, organized by BOUSSIAS events, took place at Sofitel Athens Airport. The event aimed to highlight and reward quality and innovation in pharmacy products, creativity and strategic marketing practices for their promotion in the market, as well as the services provided by pharmacies to consumers.
More than 280 senior executives, representatives of institutions, universities, professionals, and members of the press attended the ceremony, applauding the innovation and quality of the awarded nominations from companies that produce and market OTC and other pharmacy products, implement marketing practices for pharmacy product promotion, as well as pharmacies themselves.
In total, 42 companies and businesses were distinguished from a wide range of nominations across all award categories. Among them, DyonMed, participating for the first time, received the Gold Award for Best Prevention Product.

The Gold Award for Best Prevention Product was received by Christina Poulou, CEO of DyonMed – Point of Care Solutions. “Prevention is extremely important, and the only way to make it a reality is through practical approaches at the level of self-testing, where citizens themselves, with the guidance of the pharmacist, can easily engage in meaningful prevention—starting with colorectal cancer, a form of cancer that can have a positive prognosis if diagnosed early,” she commented. DyonMed is committed to developing and introducing more products to the market, while actively contributing on a daily basis and providing education to build synergies with institutions for the establishment of prevention programs.
New Data: Prevention in Our Hands
Reliable information and self-care are the two key pillars of prevention on which we must focus if we want measurable results. This is precisely the philosophy reflected in the latest European Union guidelines concerning the prevention of colorectal cancer, the second deadliest cancer in Europe.
Following a recommendation by the European Council, the Council of Health Ministers of Europe advised all Member States to implement population-based screening for colorectal cancer. As stated, “screening should target all citizens between the ages of 50 and 74, and the first step for its implementation is self-testing for the detection of micro-bleeding in stool or other newer tests, provided they have proven to be more effective.”
In Greece, there is currently a “tool” available for the prevention of colorectal cancer: the Colon test. This is a type of self-test that detects hemoglobin (i.e., traces of blood) in stool. It is an easy, affordable, and reliable solution that brings us one step closer to prevention and closer to our doctor for timely diagnosis and treatment.
These exact characteristics, along with its potentially significant contribution to a national colorectal cancer prevention plan, are what led the DyonMed Point of Care Prevention Program to be recognized as the Gold Winner in the Best Prevention Product category at the Best in Pharmacy Awards 2023, organized by Boussias. The Point of Care Selftesting program includes a range of self-tests, officially notified to EOF, which contribute to early self-diagnosis and prevention of colorectal and gastric cancer, as well as kidney function disorders. The Point of Care Selftesting range also includes a menopause “diagnosis” test, enabling women to be better prepared, from a prevention perspective, for the changes and potential health effects associated with this stage.
By participating in the DyonMed Point of Care Selftesting program, the pharmacy is recognized as a natural hub for health prevention and self-care. The role of the pharmacist is enhanced to include the important responsibility of informing the public about the value of early cancer prevention through non-invasive self-testing, educating and selecting customers based on the appropriate profile (gender, age) in order to recommend timely diagnosis and prevention of significant conditions.
